Police Hunt Violent Purse Snatcher – Your Money or Your Life!

While the outdoor temperature soars to 105 in Dallas today, police continue to hunt for a violent purse snatcher who has used a knife on his victims.

While his latest assault was picked up by a surveillance camera outside of a Dallas gas station, the black and white images do not depict the horror as the 28-year-old victim attempted to fight off her assailant as he stabbed at her. Were it not for her purse, she might well have received injuries similar to the 26-year-old man the purse snatcher is suspected of having stabbed in the back and arms as he tried to run away from the robber who hijacked his 2008 Dodge Avenger, found wrecked the following day.

Police must consider the suspect armed and dangerous and someone who has used his knife at least twice against recent victims. He is likely from the local area and will probably strike again.

Women need to consider the following concerning a potential purse snatching:

1. Take inventory of the contents of your purse. Carry only the ID, money and credit cards (likely only 1) that you may need for the day. You may want to leave other personal possessions at home.

2. Consider if your purse and its contents are worth your life. A 95-year-old Las Vegas woman recently died from injuries sustained when she resisted a purse snatcher in a supermarket parking lot. Just this past spring Dallas authorities were seeking another violent purse snatcher who attacked multiple women. After he knocked one victim to the grouwn, she refused to give up her purse, responding that he could shoot her. He then pulled out a gun and shot her in the head!

3. Try to shop with a friend – there is strength in numbers.

4. Always try to carry your house and car keys, as well as anything with your home address on it in your pocket. you don’t want to give your assailant your address.

5. Carry your purse away from approaching people and traffic and close to your body.

6. Be aware of who is around you and look anyone suspecious in the eye, most prse snatchers don’t want to be recognized.

7. Your life is more important than your purse. Make a conscious decision as to what you would do if confronted by a purse snatcher and do what you need to do to survive.
