At that time her death was ruled an accident, but with the disappearance of Peterson’s 4th wife, Stacy Peterson, (who was a teenager when he began to date her while still married to Savio), wife #3′s body was exhumed and her cause of death was determined to have been murder, possible at the hands of her former husband.

One media report suggests that a jail house associate of Peterson’stold authorities that Peterson said he had killed Stacy and, along with an accomplice, had buried her body inside of a metal container. Prior to her disappearance Stacy had allegedly told others that if she went missing that she would have been killed by her husband. Investigators have identified the alleged accomplice and accompanied him to a hunting camp area in or around Peoria, Illinois, just south of Chicago. Stacy has been missing since October 26, 2007. Drew Peterson continues to suggest that she simply ran off with another man, leaving their common children without a mother, something friends and family have said would have been impossible for her to do. Some believe Peterson killed Stacy after she told him she wanted a divorce, with Peterson wanting to insure that she would never tell what she knew about the death of Savio. In the meantime Peterson, who has loved the media attention that this case has generated, to include offering himself as a prize on a radio show advertisinga “win a date with Drew” contest, while becoming engaged to yet another girl at least a quarter century younger than him (her father broke this off) and otherwise making light of the investigation trying to determine the whereabouts of his 4thwife and the cause of death of his 3rd wife.

Peterson has proven to be one more arrogant individual who has made a joke of law enforcement efforts to determine who killed his third and assumed fourthwives. Who, many have asked, could better cover up such crimes better than a career police officer. Just like in the case of missing and assumed dead Natalee Holloway, these stories, these cases never grow totally cold and just one tip, one mistake by a suspect can bring the case back to a full blown investigation, one which, hopefully, will see all of these crimes solved and the killers of these young women locked up for life. My only question is would Drew Peterson be so dumb as to tell another inmate such a story? First of all, as a former cop he has been held in isolation for the past 13 months, allowing him little if any contact with other inmates. Secondly, to me it sounds more like something an inmate made up or, perhaps, Peterson either “testing” his fellow inmate, or just him having “fun” at the expense of investigators. We’ll see.
